Professor Lin received his B.E and M.S. degrees from Tsinghua University, and Ph.D. degree from Louisiana State University, USA. Now, he is an assistant professor in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering at the University of Nevada. Lin’s research is focused on catalysis and sustainability, with an emphasis on coupling novel chemical processes with advanced material systems for renewable energy and “green” chemical production.
In this presentation, he will introduce 1) the catalytic hydrogenation process to directly convert liquid amine or ammonia captured CO2 to formic acid salts, 2) a novel approach of a “one-pot” process through aqueous-phase hydrogen transfer, which conveys hydrogen from biomass molecules to directly reduce CO2 derived bicarbonates, and 3) the highly efficient reversible hydrogen storage-evolution process based on the ammonium bicarbonate/formate redox equilibrium over the heterogeneous catalyst in low-temperature aqueous solutions.
