報告題目:Diamond and Related Composite Films: Synthesis, Properties and Application

報告人簡介:

Dr. Xin Jiang is Professor and holder of the Chair of Surface and Materials Technology at University of Siegen, Germany since 2003 and the head of the Division Functional Films and Interfaces, Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences since 2011; He received the award “State Specially Recruited Expert” of China in 2013. He was a Changjiang Visiting Chair Professor at Dalian University and Science and Technology from 2004 to 2010. During 1991-2003 He worked as a researcher and senior scientist at the Fraunhofer IST (Braunschweig, Germany). His Habilitation and PhD degree were conducted in 1998 at Technical University of Braunschweig, Germany and in 1990 at the Technical University of Aachen, Germany, respectively. His current research fields cover the growth and applications of thin films, nano-materials as well as materials characterization. He has published more than 240 papers at peer-refereed international journals and contributed 8 book and book chapters. He has delivered numerous invited talks/lectures at international conferences.

 

報告內(nèi)容:

       Diamond and related composite films combine advantages of both diamond and the composite component (e.g., β-SiC). They are thus superior materials for a wide range of applications, such as tribological and biological coatings, sensors, windows for harsh environment, and electronic devices etc.

In this presentation, our recent processes and achievements in the synthesis, characterization and applications of diamond and related composite films will be presented. The presentation will start from the general introduction of chemical vapor deposition of diamond, SiC and then nanocrystalline diamond/β-SiC composite films. Our recent results will be presented with respect to the control of the crystal quality, conductivity, phase distribution and orientation of both diamond and β-SiC phases in the composite films. The application of these composited films for the fabrication of large surface-area porous diamond networks and porous SiC membranes will be highlighted. The usage of the composite film as cutting tool coating, as the interface for selective protein adsorption, and as the electrochemical sensing material for trace heavy metal detection will be shown. In the end of the presentation, our recent results in using fabricating SiC/graphene nanolaminate, diamond/carbon fibers will be outlined and discussed.
